ITALIAN JOURNAL SUMMER ISSUE PRESENTS ITALIAN FUTURISM AND FUTURISTS
The Italian Academy Foundation, Inc. has announced the re-design and extension of the 60-year-old Italian Journal, with its summer issue of the English-language quarterly. Coinciding with the 100th year anniversary of the Futurist Manifesto, which called for new aesthetics in art, music, culture, politics and even dress and food, the Italian Journal presents the Futurists' thinking in its various manifestations.

The Italian Academy Foundation and world-renowned pianist Nazzareno Carusi announce their Spring Concert benefit at Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall.
IAF forms Emergency Earthquake Relief Fund for l'Aquila
The devastating earthquake of April 6, 2009 killed over 150 people and left 700,000 homeless in the Abruzzo region, near the central Italian city of L'Aquila. The city was left in rubble when the 6.5 seismic disaster occurred at 3:33 a.m. (CET). IAF Chairman S. IAF teams with the Italian Language Foundation to preserve the Italian language
Supported by the Italian Consulate of New York, the Italian Language Foundation is campaigning nationwide to keep the Italian language alive in American schools. The IAF promotes the study and integration of Italian culture in American communities, and has created a stylish ad campaign for the cause. View some of the ads. (PDF format).
Puccini Concert at Carnegie A Resounding Success
The IAF concert "Puccini Intimately" paid tribute to the great composer on the celebration of his 150th birthday. The star-studded audience was treated to an inspired program of music, ranging from rarely-performed gems such as 'I cristantemi' to favorites such as the dramatic end of Tosca's second act. The IAF Annual Bravo/Brava awards were presented to three exception individuals: Howard Abel, Anna Birgis-Hannesson and Dr Betsey McCaughy. Following the musical program, VIP guests and musicians headed to Beckstein Piano, where the United Nations Women for Peace co-hosted a post-concert soiree'. View the photos.
The Montfort Academy and Italian Academy Foundation form new program in Abruzzo
Summer of 2009 will herald the second year of IAF's educational retreat in the beautiful heart of the Abruzzo National Park, where students learn about archaeology, history, science and local customs through daily excursions. LYNXX XXI Seminar Named "A Success" by America Oggi
The Italian-American newspaper Oggi reported that the IAF's first seminar on science and medicine held at the Italian Consulate in New York City was a success. With an attendance of over 50 medical professionals, the series delved into the latest technology used to improve surgical procedures. The ongoing series presents techniques, philosophy and contemporary newsmakers in the medical and scientific fields.
